Welcome to the sixth edition of InstaDeep’s quarterly newsletter – the Quarterly Digest. InstaDeep a key organizing partner in the Indaba Grand Challenge
to cure Leishmaniasis praised by WHO

Over the last few months, several volunteers at InstaDeep, including the two Co-Founders Karim Beguir and Zohra Slim, have been working closely with the Deep Learning Indaba Steering Committee to develop the incredibly ambitious Indaba Grand Challenge! The initiative kicked-off on the 30th June and aims for nothing less than finding a cure for Leishmaniasis, a horrible parasitic disease killing 50,000 people annually, and affecting millions of people mainly from poorer nations the world over. We are thrilled to participate as a key organising partner in this initiative which takes an approach deemed ‘sensible’ by Chief Scientist at WHO.

Free AI-tool for Face Mask Detection!

InstaDeep and Zindi team up to build a Computer Vision solution which quantifies face mask usage from live video streams input to help control Covid19. The tool has widespread use and can assist regulatory functions across industries to detect if people are wearing a face mask or not.

Online RL Training Course hosted by InstaDeep at NVIDIA GTC 2020

In March, we presented the training course ‘Learning to Route Using Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning’ during NVIDIA's first virtual GTC conference. It is now live on the GTC portal for people to learn the ins and outs of RL routing from our experts at InstaDeep. You can access the course for free via the link below!

InstaDeep produces baselines for the NeurIPS 2020 train routing challenge

This year's NeurIPS is hosting a multi-agent Reinforcement Learning train optimisation challenge to tackle a major problem in the transportation world, namely how to efficiently manage dense traffic on complex railway networks. Following InstaDeep’s extensive experience in the field, we are contributing to the challenge by creating the baselines in partnership with Deutsche Bahn, the German railway company.

... partner with Kickstart to drive AI innovation in Smart City & Technology in Switzerland

From thousands of applicants across the globe, the Swiss innovation platform Kickstart selects InstaDeep to join their Smart City & Technology accelerator program to collaborate with established organisations and drive innovation across the country. As one of Europe’s largest zero equity, multi-corporate ecosystem innovation platforms, the Zurich based company runs a scale-up program for later-stage start-ups with a goal to accelerate ground-breaking deep tech solutions through close collaboration with the company’s corporate partners including AXA, Coop, Migros, Energie 360°, Holcim Switzerland, City of Zurich and others. InstaDeep was selected on the basis of its broad experience in building bespoke AI products and solutions to optimise processes, increase efficiency and enhance safety utilising advanced machine learning including Reinforcement Learning and Deep Learning. Specifically to Smart City, InstaDeep’s solutions range from traffic optimisation and multi-vehicle routing, with a transportation solution currently in production for Deutsche Bahn, Intelligent Video Automation (IVA) detection solution, and warehouse automation amongst other offerings. We are excited to see what Autumn brings!
